Please forgive me ahead of time. I’m having one of those days today.
I came across something last night on YouTube about ADHD that I feel is annoying. There was a guy, I won’t say his name, stating that the reason the 5 million kids and 8 million adults with ADHD have it, is because of convenience food. I don’t question his numbers on how many people have ADHD. I question his reasoning as to why. From what I understand he is saying, ADHD showed up shortly after convenience food did. He gives us a nice date of about 1970. I truly think that it is a load of BS. All of the reading that I have done says that ADHD has been around for quite a lot longer time than that. On top of that, the majority of ADHD has been proven to be genetic, NOT dietetic!! I realize that eating healthy is important and that it might improve symptoms, but for most of us, it is NOT the magic cure. I don’t even think there is a cure. And if there was, would you want it? We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for people feeling restless (explorers), inquisitive (scientists), and willing to take risks (entrepreneurs). I doubt that most of those people ate convenience food. Oh, about that date, that’s about the time that more information was known about ADHD. With more info comes more diagnoses. Might just be why there is a rise in ADHD. Think about it. Let me know what you think.

You speak my mind, Bob. Maybe we are better suited to lives that are both simple and risky – like in the good old days when kids played outdoors for hours after school and did chores that mattered and adults could make a living actually doing something – Argh! this falling snow is crazy-making!
